Asiana Airlines Business Class

Asiana Airlines is a world leading airline and amongst only a handful of airlines who have been awarded the Skytrax 5-star rating. In 2010 they were awarded best airline in the world at the World Airline Awards.

There is a great deal of investment going into the new business class products; already Asiana Airlines has an angled lie-flat seat. A new product was announced in 2010 to upgrade to a fully flat business class seat, putting them amongst the carriers with the best products available in next generation seating.

Qatar Airways Business Class

Qatar Airways Business Class provides a comfortable and spacious environment for passengers. They offer an exceptional in-flight experience and are listed as a 5 star airline by Skytrax.

Business class seating on the Boeing 777’s is fully flat which is an enhancement on the angled lie-flat seats found on the long-haul Airbus aircraft. The product if fairly similar, though Qatar Airways has upgraded the product to the latest industry benchmark. It is likely that Airbus aircraft will be retrofitted in the future to have this fully flat business class seat.

Malaysia Airlines Business Class

Malaysia Airlines Business Class offers a great in-flight experience. Time and time again the airline ranks amongst the top in the world for their in-flight service.

In business class Malaysia Airlines offers an angled lie-flat seat product. At the time of its initial launch in 2003 it was among the industry leaders, only a small number of airlines at the time had gone the extra step to fully flat.

The design is a ‘mini pod’ which still features on many airlines who have gone to fully flat products, in many cases they have simply upgraded the product by making adjustments to take out the sleep angle though most of the other seat features remain.

Malaysia Airlines is likely to make their next product upgrades in business class with the introduction of Airbus A380 aircraft into service in 2011. Like many other carriers, they are using this state of the art aircraft as the launch of new in-flight products.

Air France Business Class

Affaires is the international business class cabin for Air France. The latest product was introduced on the Airbus A380, which is a slight variation on the Affaires product available on other long-haul aircraft.

It is designed to maximize space where passengers are able to relax, work and sleep when and how they want. Contour Premium Aircraft Seating designed Affaires with attention paid to in-seat performance and durability. The outcome being a stylish business class product. The colour tones of blue and beige create a calm and tranquil seating environment.

The main differences between Affaires on the Airbus A380 and other Air France long-haul aircraft is when in the sleep position it goes fully flat, it is wider and the seat pitch is closer. The original version of this Affaires product was launched with Boeing 777-300ER services which first took to the skies in 2007.

Japan Airlines Business Class

Executive Class is the business class cabin for Japan Airlines, Japan’s flag carrier. They have a number of products available depending on which service you are travelling on. The latest product is the “Shell Flat Neo” seat, which made it’s debut in August 2008.

Japan Airlines has two angled lie-flat seat version and then a recliner seat version. This is for their international services.

Qantas Business Class

Qantas International Business Class features the Qantas ‘Skybed’, originally introduced in 2003 on long haul flights, the product had further enhancements made to it with the introduction of Airbus A380 services in 2008.

In 1979, Qantas was the world’s first airline to introduce Business Class seats. The airline is an industry pioneer, currently the oldest continuously operating airline and every year is one of the most profitable.

The Skybed has been designed by Marc Newson and developed with B/E Aerospace. In 2004 the Skybed received the prestigious Chicago Athenaeum Museum Good Design Award.

Seat functionality is controlled electronically, passengers can adjust the seat into any position to ensure they are most comfortable for relaxing, working, eating or sleeping. There is an in-seat back massage function, cocoon style design with screen for added privacy, night light, LED reading light and ample storage areas.

US Airways Envoy Class (Int)

US Airways Envoy Class is their international Business Class cabin. They have recently also introduced a new cabin product to be fitted into their Airbus A330 aircraft.

There are three variations of Envoy Class on their current fleet, US Airways is moving towards the latest generation of products as many of the major North American carriers are. Though US Airways has also had an angled lie-flat product for some time on a number of aircraft, they are now introducing fully flat seats in this next phase.

Airbus A350 aircraft are also on order and expected to join the fleet in 2014, expect these to either have new Envoy Suites or an even more advanced product as in-flight cabin products continue to advance with the latest features.
